Baritone
Richard Hamrin is one of Sweden's most versatile and sought-after baritones. Trained at the University College of Opera in Stockholm, he has built a career that moves fluidly across opera, drama, and musical theatre — performing on the country's most prestigious stages and beyond.

His artistic range spans the full lyric baritone repertoire, and he is equally at home in grand opera, intimate theatrical productions, and large-scale musical theatre. Most recently, Richard performed the roles of Marcello in La Bohème, Sad Boy at Copenhagen Opera Festival, and Billy Flynn in Chicago at Malmö Opera — roles that showcase the breadth of his talent in a single season.

The 2024 season saw him appear as Jasper in the acclaimed production Arv at Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern in Stockholm, as Sigismund in Vita Hästen at Folkoperan, and as Filippo in Rossini's La Gazzetta at Läckö Slott — a remarkable range of work across genres and venues. Looking ahead, Richard will take on the role of King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm, a role set to further cement his reputation as a magnetic and compelling stage performer.

A defining moment in his career came during the 2020–2021 season with his one-man production Klaus Nomi – A Human with an Alien Heart at the Royal Swedish Opera. The production was nominated as one of the best performances at Scenkonstbiennalen, filmed by SVT, and returned to the Royal Opera stage in autumn 2023 — a testament to its lasting impact.

Richard has performed at the Royal Swedish Opera, Drottningholm Court Theatre, Wermland Opera, Confidencen, Folkoperan, and on international stages in Basel, Schwerin, and Wuppertal. His international experience includes a full season at Landestheater Detmold in Germany, where he performed leading roles in both opera and operetta.

His artistry has been recognized with awards from the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal Swedish Opera's Soloist Prize, Folkoperan's Soloist Prize, and the Scen & Film award for outstanding artistic achievement.
